With a name inspired by a classic Kate Bush song-cycle, The Ninth Wave have a lot to live up to musically. Thankfully, they’ve been releasing unique mergers of electronic-pop and post-punk that Kate would be proud of, with their most recent release, ‘Happy Days!’ teasing what we should be expecting from their upcoming EP of the same name (due for release on July 17^th). They explain that the single is “a song of ups and downs. At its core, the lyrics shine a torchlight on the murky highs and lows of life. We wanted to make something harsher and more direct than songs we had written before, and this came together relatively quickly”. It’s energetic and pulsating throughout, with darkness and atmosphere leading us through to that anthemic conclusion. - Dan Peeke
